LT Game Jam, the largest game creation event in the Baltic states, saw record numbers attend its 2015 event, held last weekend. A total of 450 current and future game development professionals met to share ideas, experiment, and create a working computer game within 48 hours.
LT Game Jam, now in its ninth year, is held annually in three cities in Lithuania — Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda. And Liudas Ubarevičius, chairman of the Lithuanian Association of Game Developers, believes the event will stimulate further growth in Lithuania’s burgeoning games sector. “We hope that LT Game Jam will lay the foundation for the development of a number of successful Lithuanian games and will accelerate the formation of new game development teams and companies, and encourage pupils and students to pursue a career in the game industry.”
The events main sponsor, Lithuania-based Game Insight, is one of the world’s largest game developers. Anatolijus Ropotovas, Manager of Game Insight, said the company were happy to support LT Game Jam. “Leading in the Baltic region, we are pleased that we can contribute to the promotion and support of the local game development communities that are growing every year.”
LT Game Jam is part of the worldwide initiative Global Game Jam. On the same evening, game developers in 79 countries around the world sat down at their computers to develop games. Global Game Jam estimates that 25,000 participants presented 4,500 working game ideas on Sunday evening.LT Game Jam 2015 was help on 23–25 January at Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius, Kaunas University of Technology, and Klaipėda Science and Technology Park.
